Who We Are

ListenDuo is a family audiobook app built by Daniel Rothman. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," it means ListenDuo and its operator. Our website is listenduo.com and our app is available for iOS and Android.

What We Collect

When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address and whether you opted in to beta testing. If you create an account in our app, we collect your name, email address, and any profile information you provide (such as child profiles you create within your family hub).

We also collect standard usage data: which screens you visit, which features you use, your device type, and your operating system version. We do not sell or share this data with advertisers.

If you connect a library card, we store the card details locally on your device so we can check availability on your behalf. We do not transmit library card numbers to our servers.

How We Use Your Data

We use your email to send you waitlist updates, account notifications, and (if you opted in) beta testing invitations. We use usage data to improve the app and fix bugs. We use your reading history and preferences to recommend books you might enjoy.

If you use Family Hub features, we sync listening progress across family members you have explicitly invited. Only people in your family group can see shared listening data.

Affiliate Links

ListenDuo earns commissions when you purchase audiobooks through links in the app. These links go to partners like Libro.fm and may include affiliate tracking identifiers. We do not share your personal information with affiliate partners. The affiliate networks (such as Awin and CJ Affiliate) may set cookies on the partner's site to track the referral, subject to those partners' own privacy policies.

Children's Privacy

ListenDuo is designed for families, including children. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian. We do not collect personal information directly from children under 13. Child profiles contain only a display name and listening preferences chosen by the parent. We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) requirements.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers provided by Supabase (hosted on AWS in the United States). We use encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We keep your data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services to operate ListenDuo: Supabase for our database and authentication, Expo for app distribution, and Google OAuth if you choose to sign in with Google or connect Google Drive. Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not use third-party advertising trackers in the app.

Your Rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time by emailing danielbenjaminrothman@gmail.com. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics may be retained.

Cookies

Our website uses minimal cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. If you join the waitlist and the submission fails, we store your signup locally in your browser so it can be retried. That is the extent of our client-side storage on the website.

Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and notify active users by email. We will never retroactively reduce your privacy protections without your consent.
